When co-founders Julie Anne Kelly and Andrew Myerson were training to compete in the New York City Golden Gloves in 2009, they didn’t stop with workouts and sparring. Deciding that the grueling physical, mental, and emotional test of competing was not enough, they began raising money for cancer research, making the event an opportunity to literally fight for a cure. From there, the idea for Haymakers for Hope was sparked and became an official 501(c)(3) charity organization in 2011.
Since then, Haymakers for Hope has brought its signature boxing events and cities around the country, raising millions for cancer research, care, awareness, and survivorship in the process. Today, participants can box, run, golf, or polar plunge to raise funds, and become part of the growing community of competitors putting up a fight against cancer in the way they know best.
I believe now more than ever in Haymakers and its potential to raise millions and catalyze change by challenging and pushing everyday men and women to their limits.”
