Goal
As some of you know, I’m excited—and admittedly a little anxious—to be running the Chicago Marathon on October 11, which is now less than three weeks away.
I’m running for Haymakers for Hope (H4H), a nonprofit that supports cancer research, awareness, care and survivorship programs.
Unfortunately, far too many of us have been—and continue to be—affected by cancer. Whether you’re caring for a loved one or facing a long battle yourself, the burden is already heavy enough without having to worry about costs. That’s why these programs and the funds supporting them are so vital.
As part of H4H’s charity team, I’ve committed to raising at least $3,000 before race day. Haymakers has raised more than $40 million for cancer research and care since its founding, and every dollar I raise supports that mission.
Would you consider contributing? Truly, no amount is too small. Twenty-five dollars can be just as meaningful as $250 when enough people show up together. I’m more than two-thirds of the way to my goal, having raised $2,100 this summer, and I would be grateful and honored to have your support as I take on this challenge.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be grinding in the waning hours before and after work to prepare my body for 26.2 miles. Training went well this summer until an injury forced me to take some time off, so I may not be chasing a personal record in Chicago. But if you know me, you know the time on the clock has never been the real goal.
It’s going to be hard. But if I’ve learned anything from running over the past decade, it’s that hard things don’t become possible all at once. They become possible one step, one mile and one person at a time.
Thank you for considering supporting me on this one. It truly means a lot.
With eternal gratitude,
Patrick
