I am thrilled to share I am running the 2026 Berlin Marathon in honor of my father Kevin Kelleher and my brother Chris Kelleher who passed away unexpectedly in July 2021 and July 2023, respectively. This will be my fifth World Major Marathon and sixth marathon overall.
For those of you who knew Kevin, you will remember his humor consisting of unending "dad jokes", his positivity, and most of all his constant support everyone in his life that was important to him. He loved being with family and he built a great one. He was simply a good man. The same could be said about Chris. He loved making people laugh, playing and listening to music, and sports. He was the life of the party and always wanted to make everyone feel included. Chris also inspired me to start running when I was a Freshman in high school. He ran varsity in both high school and college and was setting school records when I was struggling just to run 3 miles. I think about him every time I am struggling through a run and it always gives me a mental boost.
Losing two family members only 2 years apart is a really challenging experience to go through, and is one I still cope with every day. If one tiny positive outcome from losing them is that I am able to raise money and awareness for an amazing cause, then in my opinion it's my duty to keep paying that forward. Losing family members unexpectedly is something many families who battle through cancer experience as well. All of a sudden someone can be perfectly healthy and living their best life, and then one day everything changes unexpectedly.
Haymakers for Hope brings together fighters and runners to raise funds for cancer research, care, awareness and survivorship. Every step I take and every mile I run is a step closer to knocking out cancer. Your generous contribution will not only propel me forward in my training but, more importantly, will make a significant impact in the fight against cancer. Together, let's run towards a future where no one has to face cancer alone.
Thank you once again for all of your support!
