I am incredibly excited and honored to have been selected for Haymakers for Hope. Like many of us, cancer has impacted my life through the loved ones it has affected.

In 2009, my Aunt Mary Beth was diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 lung cancer and was given a limited time to live. Despite this prognosis, she was determined to fight the disease and aimed to outlive what the doctors had predicted. Aunt Mary Beth was full of life and had a presence that could light up any room. Through her battle, I witnessed the strength and courage it takes to confront this illness head-on, as well as the devastating effects it can have on a person’s life. Sadly, in 2013, my Aunt Mary Beth lost her fight at the young age of 55. Her memory lives on in the hearts of my family, me, and all those whose lives she touched. We miss her presence in our family to this day.

Since her passing, many of my friends and family members, including my grandfather, have fought against cancer. I am happy to share that my grandfather triumphed in his battle with pancreatic cancer and is now healthy and full of life.

On April 10th, I will step into the ring to fight in honor of Aunt Mary Beth, my grandfather, and all my loved ones whose strength has inspired me through their battles against cancer. My goal is to raise $7,500 for crucial cancer research to support the millions of people who, like Aunt Mary Beth and my grandfather, are engaging in their own fights with this disease. I am fighting with the hope that our efforts can bring us closer to knocking out cancer for good.
