I’m super excited to be participating in Haymakers for Hope’s Liberty Bell Brawl II this April in Philadelphia in support of cancer research and awareness. Cancer unfortunately touches so many people and their loved ones and has become a big part of my life over the last few years. For those who don’t know, in August 2021 I received the news that I had been diagnosed with Stage IIIB cancer and life came screeching to a halt. Cancer is one of those words that everyone knows and fears, but not everyone understands exactly what comes along with a diagnosis or really their chances of overcoming it. I was one of those people. As a 30 year old at the time with a possible “uncurable and inoperable” diagnosis of advanced stage cancer, the next few years shifted from professional and personal goals to just coming out the other side. Luckily, and I don’t say that lightly, after rounds of treatment and multiple surgeries I was deemed “No Evidence of Disease” only a year later in August 2022. Closing in on year 2 of "No Evidence of Disease" I can think of no better way to celebrate while raising money and awareness about cancer than stepping into the ring. Let's raise money and awareness to help those who are still battling cancer, remember those we've lost to cancer, and ultimately make steps to knock out cancer moving forward!
