Why I box

“Don’t count the days, make the days count.” – Muhammad Ali

“Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.” – Dr. Mae Jemison

"You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live". - Stuart Scott

Fighting for a Purpose

Cancer has touched the lives of countless individuals, causing pain, suffering, and loss. As I witnessed the devastating impact of this disease firsthand, I felt a deep desire to contribute to the fight against cancer in any way I could. Witnessing the devastation it brought to both my amazing aunty Kehinde Akinsiku as she suffered from breast cancer and my uncle Chief Gani Fawehinmi from lung cancer, it became a cause that became deeply close to my heart. When I learned about the opportunity to participate in a nonprofit boxing match dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and support, I knew it was a chance to make a tangible difference.

By stepping into the boxing ring, attention is given to the urgent need for increased funding and resources to combat cancer. Every jab, hook, and uppercut thrown during the match represents a blow against this formidable opponent. It is an opportunity for me to embody the strength, resilience, and determination that cancer patients exhibit every day. Moreover, the nonprofit nature of this event is vital. It ensures that every dollar raised goes directly to organizations actively engaged in cancer research, patient support programs, and awareness campaigns.

By engaging friends, family, and the wider community, a light is shed on the importance of early detection, prevention, and ongoing support for cancer patients and their loved ones.

As I step into the ring, fight with me. Let us unite our strength, raise our voices, and use the power of boxing to strike a decisive blow against cancer.
