Goal
We give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
I am fighting in honor of one of my best friends (Bo) and college roommate’s mother, Marianna Sheridan. Marianna passed in the summer of 2017 following our freshman year at W&L after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Additionally, I am fighting in honor of Mary-Ellen Loveless, mother to my lifelong friend Will. Mary-Ellen fought and defeated cancer when we were in middle school but unfortunately, it returned in a more aggressive fashion in 2021 and she passed in March of 2022. The courage and determination to fight until the end shown by these two women are what motivate me.
I am also fighting for Peggy Reigle, Margaret Wellborn, Connie Campbell, Amy Hendricks, Jay Dorman, Garrett LeRose, Jay Horn, Mike Carter and anyone impacted by cancer.
My fight is nothing compared to the fight against cancer, and I’d appreciate your help in fundraising money so that one day, we can eradicate this awful disease.
