I'm fighting for two very important women in my life: my Mom and Aunt Kimmy. Last year our family was shaken with the news of my mom's melanoma diagnosis. We are happy to report that, with thanks to her amazing team of doctors, her melanoma was caught soon enough to be completely removed and she is now living cancer-free. My Aunt Kimmy's journey is one that requires a constant fight. In 2020 she was diagnosed with ROS1+ Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). ROS1+ is a genetic mutation that accounts for less than 2% of all NSCLC patients, of which there is no cure. The funds raised for my participation in Haymakers for Hope will benefit ROS1ders, a community developed by ROS1 lung cancer patients for the purpose of educating about the disease, promoting research and development, and helping patients get access to clinical trials. Stepping in the ring is my way of taking up the fight for them, if only for a few rounds.
