My decision to step in the ring comes after the loss of my grandfather this past year, following a battle with prostate cancer. For those who had the pleasure of knowing him, he lived to make his community better, eager to help others, and was a leader in every sense of the word.

Cancer has a profound ripple effect for those who have dealt with it. Whether it is receiving the diagnosis, undergoing treatment, or facing the uncertainties that it brings, it takes a village of support and sacrifice. Cancer doesn’t affect just one person – it has a lasting impact on families, friendships, and communities.

For my friend Connor, and my mother-in-law, who have humbly faced the realities of cancer head-on, your resilience inspires me. You have never hesitated, never complained, and always show up despite the conditions. You have chosen to make the best out of a situation that you face.
