I’m stepping into the ring on May 7th for my Mom Yolanda Neville and her best friend Estelle Peyton who battled cancer in the middle of the last decade and sadly lost their battles in 2019 and 2018 respectively. They were the best the world has to offer and they were taken away from us far too soon.
I am honored to step into the ring as part of Haymakers for Hope, a charity boxing event dedicated to raising funds for cancer patients and their families. This incredible event supports those battling cancer by funding research, treatments, and support programs.
Watching them fight cancer was truly the hardest and most difficult thing I have ever done. The two of them together were a community unto themselves. People flocked to their love, warmth, and joy for years. For me they were my connector, my anchor, my tether to this world and watching them battle cancer and succumb to the insidious diseases that took them is something that absolutely rocked my world. The strength and grit they showed during those long hours of Chemo and countless doctor’s appointments and treatments was at the same time awe-inspiring and heartbreaking to watch a loved one go through. I’ve learned over the years that cancer in some form or fashion affects everyone and is completely indiscriminate in whom it strikes. I’m raising money to help play a small part in helping someone win their fight against cancer.
Through this fight, I aim to raise funds and awareness for those who need it most, giving hope to patients and their families as they navigate their own battles. Any support means the world to me, and together, we can make a difference.
