In college, I had the privilege of being involved with Team Impact, an organization that pairs children facing serious illness and disabilities with college sports teams. That experience gave me a different perspective and helped me realize that while the demands and rigors of a Division I schedule or training for a boxing match can be challenging, they are challenges we have the privilege of choosing. They pale in comparison to the battles faced by children and families confronting illnesses like cancer—battles that no one ever chooses.

I am fighting to continue to push my limits, not only for myself, but to keep that perspective front and center. This effort is a reminder to be grateful for the ability to compete and to use it as a platform to give back. By raising money for cancer research, I hope to support those fighting far tougher battles and contribute, in a small way, to making those battles easier in the future.
