Cancer has played a huge role in my life with so many in my family having fought the disease at one point or another. I've personally had my own smaller battles with thyroid cancer and skin cancer which I believe made me stronger as a person and helped me appreciate my life and otherwise good health.
Some words from one of my childhood heroes, Stuart Scott, that have always stuck with me about the fight against cancer are "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live."
Bringing my mom to treatments throughout much of 2024 really opened my eyes to not only how tough she was but how tough every patient and supporting family member was in those chemo rooms. 3 rounds of getting punched in the face is nothing compared to 3 rounds of chemo and I'm honored to have this opportunity to represent and sacrifice in my own way for my late family members and every other person and family out there who have been effected by cancer or are currently battling.
