On May 11th, I will step into the boxing ring on behalf of Haymakers for Hope, a charitable organization that hosts amateur charity boxing events in an effort to “knock out” cancer. I am fighting for all of my family, friends and loved ones who have fought and continue to fight their battles with cancer, in hopes of finding a cure.

I will be dedicating my fundraising efforts in honor of my grandmother (lovingly known as “Bama”), Ani Kapur, who courageously fought and won her arduous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bama, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014, underwent years of chemotherapy, successfully recovered from the Whipple procedure – a 12+ hour operation to remove the head of the pancreas – and survived a fight that was far more grueling than the one I will undertake.

Bama is my hero and the motivation for me to take on the challenge of stepping into the ring for the very first time.

One-hundred percent of donations to my page will be directly contributed to the Pancreas and Liver Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – the group that treated and ultimately saved Bama’s life.

Over the next four months, I will carry out an intense training and fundraising journey in preparation for my Haymakers for Hope bout. I will be training at EverybodyFights alongside the legendary coach, Kevin Cobbs, and learning from some the best fighters in Boston. As hard as I will be training, I will also be doing my very best to hit my fundraising goal.

I have committed to raising at least $25,000 for Haymakers for Hope, and with your generosity, I know that, together, we can not only meet, but far exceed this goal.
