Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
Cancer sucks. Everyone has been, or knows someone who has been, directly or indirectly impacted by this terrible disease. My family knows this all too well.
My mom was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease when I was young. I remember not fully understanding what was going on but knowing that whatever it was it wasn't good. She fought and she won that fight but I saw firsthand the profound impact that cancer can have on a family, even when the outcome is a win. I'll always be so proud of my mom for how hard she fought and how she was there for my brother and me even when things got tough.
My mom's mom (my nana) went the distance with breast cancer (literally going 15 rounds/years with the disease) - she was a warrior who never gave an inch even when the fight looked bleak. My dad's mom (my grandma) was taken from us far too early, but not before giving the disease everything she had to beat it. I'll never forget the impact that they and their fights had on my parents, my brother and me.
And so I fight. I fight for those who have fought like hell and won, like my mom, and those who fought like hell and lost their battle, like my nana and grandma. And I fight for everyone who will continue to fight this disease and their loved ones who will be impacted by this disease.
Haymakers for Hope allows me an opportunity to do my part in the fight against cancer by raising money to give researchers the resources they need to work towards a cure and to support the families who continue to be impacted by this disease.
I hope you'll join me in this fight and consider donating towards this amazing cause. I will be fighting for One Mission and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
One Mission is a pediatric cancer charity that does whatever it takes for kids fighting cancer. One Mission programs make living in the hospital less lonely and stressful, bring back joy and hope in a time of fear and uncertainty and give patients and their families the support they need to get through the emotional and financial challenges pediatric cancer brings. Below are just a few examples of how One Mission programs and services are making life easier for patients and their families.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a global leader in the fight against cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.
