“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” hits me because cancer doesn’t wait for the perfect moment, and it doesn’t ask whether a family is ready. I’ve watched it touch my family, my loved ones, my friends—people I’d do anything to protect. When cancer shows up, it changes everything: the routine, the priorities, the air in the room. And for too many families, the hardest part is not knowing the outcome. That quote reminds me that I can’t control the diagnosis, the timeline, or the uncertainty—but I can control what I do next. I can show up. I can work. I can take the fear and turn it into forward motion.
That’s why I’m fighting in Haymakers for Hope. I’m doing what I can with what I have: my time, my body, my discipline, my voice, my willingness to get hit and keep moving. And I’m fighting to raise money that supports cancer research, care, awareness, and survivorship—because progress isn’t abstract when it’s your people, your memories, your future on the line. I’m dedicating this fight to everyone who has faced cancer and everyone who’s facing it right now—the millions still in the battle, and the families standing beside them, trying to be strong when they’re exhausted. This is for the fighters, the survivors, the ones we’ve lost, and the ones still fighting for one more round.
