I applied to Haymakers for Hope in June of 2024, with a hope that I could help in their cause. I sadly was not accepted into the program that year but aspired to apply once again in 2025.
In August of 2024, my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that had gone completely undetected. The invincible woman that raised me for the first 7 years of my life, now had to face her toughest fight. In January of 2025 my grandmother lost her battle with Cancer, and the world was robbed of an incredible soul. When I applied to Haymakers for Hope in 2025, this cause had a whole new meaning. I have now been given the opportunity to fight against cancer, and try to do everything I can so that one day no one has to endure what my grandmother, family, and countless others must because of this terrible disease.
We give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
