Goal

When my son, Biko, was two months old, we nearly lost him. He was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia Syndrome, a rare blood disorder that requires daily medication and carries a terrifying reality: an increased risk of cancer. Today, at six years old, he’s thriving, full of life and laughter—but that shadow of “what if” is always there.
I’m fighting in the Haymakers for Hope event because I refuse to stand still while cancer remains a threat to kids like mine. Every punch I throw is for Biko, and for every child facing this syndrome. Funds raised will support the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation, which is working to understand and eliminate the cancer risks tied to DBA.
I’m also doing this as the oldest fighter on the card—49 and counting—because staying fit isn’t just about endurance. It’s about being able to carry my son if he ever needs me to. Literally. Whether it’s holding him through moments of pain or lifting him through life’s challenges, I want to be strong enough to show up for him. So this fight is personal. It’s for every parent who knows that staying healthy is one of the most radical things we can do for those we love.
