So incredibly honored and excited to be stepping in the ring to do my part in knocking out cancer for good! After being surrounded by the sport for several years, I'm overjoyed to be able to combined one of my favorite hobbies with a cause so close to my heart.
Back in the eerie days of 2020, after just moving out of my parents home and into the city, my mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Given the state of the world at the time, I was unable to go back to help and support her through this journey. While this was a difficult time for my family, I do realize we are considered one of the lucky ones. Thyroid cancer has a survival rate of over 99% thanks to the works of organizations such as Haymakers, and many others that raise money for cancer research. Thankfully my mom is ~officially~ cancer free, though I do recognize this is not the case for most families. By competing this November, I'm not only fighting for her, but fighting for all who've been impacted by and are currently fighting cancer.
