Everyone knows someone. Cancer has directly or indirectly impacted the vast majority of us at some point in our lives. Whether it be a personal battle, or watching family members, friends, and loved ones fight their own, the disease touches us all. The word “cancer” first took on a new meaning for me when in 2019 my father’s unexpected Leukemia diagnosis shook our tight-knit family to the core. Sitting in Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital during the immediate aftermath of the diagnosis and seeing not only the struggle, but the sheer willpower of those battling their disease, was both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. While my father is on the road to recovery, and has a materially improved outlook, his battle still rages on each and every day.

By participating in NYC’s 10th annual Haymakers for Hope event, I hope to raise money and awareness to aide in the ongoing war against cancer. I’ll be stepping in the ring not only for my father, but to honor all the men and women who’ve so courageously fought against the disease. I encourage anyone and everyone to reach out to me, share their stories, DONATE TO THE CAUSE, and be in my corner come fight night!

While my ‘fight against cancer” ends on November 3rd, the real fighters of this world will continue their battles each and every day until the disease is eradicated once and for all.
