Before June 2024, I had never step foot in a boxing gym. Never hit mitts. Never sparred.
So why would I, at age 38 with a beautiful wife, two young children and one due in November, voluntarily subject myself to a potential beating in front of 2,000 people at The Anthem?
The answer is easy: to play some small role in eliminating cancer forever.
My history with cancer is different than other Haymakers for Hope fighters. I’m not a survivor and I am fortunate that my immediate family members are healthy. But other families aren’t so fortunate. Other families are afflicted by this awful disease and circumstance out of their control. That’s why I am proudly fighting and raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which was founded with the belief that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” It costs $2 billion dollars per year to run St. Jude’s and ensure that no patient is ever sent a bill. Getting my bell rung so that we can ring the bell on childhood cancer seems like the least I could offer.
Thank you for supporting such a worthy cause!
