Why I box

"Remember, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Champions are built brick by painful brick
and that can take a lifetime. Sometimes it can happen without anyone even bothering to
notice. Take heart. The mountains you climb can't always be seen by an audience...
Still, you must not stop climbing. For, in all their sophomoric hubris, whatever actions
we take, or do not take, the mountain remains."

Cancer is infamously known as the great equalizer.  It's a horrific disease that doesn't discriminate if you're a man or woman, young or old, what color your skin is, where you're from, or who you are.  We've ALL been affected by cancer either directly or by way of a friend, family member, or loved one.  As such a widespread issue that affects millions of people every year, there are thousands of ways to donate toward the causes of cancer research, treatment, and survivorship - this is where H4H comes in.  It gives a few of us, with the support of our friends and family, the opportunity to literally fight back.

I'm fighting for:

  • My mother.  It's difficult to articulate how loving, caring, and supportive my mom has been my entire life - her and my dad are the two people responsible for shaping me into the man I am today.  When she was 25, she lost her mother, the grandmother I never had the pleasure of meeting, to ovarian cancer.  While she might not be able to watch her son take a beating in front of hundreds of people on June 6th, I want her to know I'm fighting for her and the woman who raised her.

  • Jack C.  Jack and I have known each other our entire lives.  Our parents are best friends, we've been on countless family vacations together, and he'll always be a close friend.  On April, 15th, 2015, Jack was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 26.  Like the stud he continues to be, Jack faught back and won - he's been cancer-free for three years.  In my eyes, he's the breathing example of what H4H stands for - he KO'd cancer and I couldn't be prouder to call someone that relentlessly tough my friend.

With your support, I'll be making my stand against this terrible disease on June 6th - together, we can #KOCancer.
