Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure. For me this is stepping out of my comfort zone, which I rarely do at 35 years old. I thought that for those fighting cancer, they do not get to choose whether they can stay in their comfort zone or not, so the least we can do it step out of our comfort zone, do something we have never done before, and raise a ton of money! Vamos!
My Grandmother passed away in 2011 after a 4 year fight with cancer. For whatever reason, maybe because it was just too hard for my Grandfather, we never had a funeral or a ceremony. I thought this was an amazing opportunity to raise money for those fighting for their lives, while also honoring the life of my Grandmother, Elizabeth "Hunny" Wilson. The irony is she would hate that I am getting punched in the face, so I better practice up so I do not get whooped!
