Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
Hello friends and Family! I'm beyond excited to be participating in the Haymakers for Hope (H4H) Charity Boxing Event Thursday, May 19th at the House of Blues in Kenmore Sq. H4H is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds and awareness to fight cancer, while giving regular folks an opportunity to put it on the line in a boxing ring. To date they have raised over 14M dollars in their 10+ year run hosting events in Boston, NY and Denver.
Most people who know me are aware that I'm a huge boxing junkie and love just about everything about the sport. I've always loved the connection H4H provides between boxing and a meaningful cause that has impacted the lives of most families we all know.
My father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2008 and his prospects for long term health were very low. After much consideration he had an esophagectomy performed at the VA Hospital and his life was extended for 12+ years until he passed September 2nd, 2020.
I'd like my efforts to highlight the care workers, especially those in the VA Hospital system who treated him like their own right to his very last breath.
I hope all people who are suffering are fortunate to receive the kind of care he did. From their efforts in 2008 through his passing, they helped give him enough life to establish meaningful relationships with his 4 youngest grandchildren, none of whom were born at the time of his diagnosis.
Lastly, I want to see if I can handle getting punched in the face for 6 minutes!
I consider it an honor to have been selected and plan to sell myself out over the next 4 months to train and raise funds relentlessly!
I would greatly appreciate any donation that can be made to support this great cause.
