Goal
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
In July of 2022, my world turned upside down when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It feels like yesterday when my mom sat my sister and I down and told us that her results came back abnormal on her routine mammogram. She went back to her doctor for a follow-up and was told that she was in the early stages of cancer. Though her prognosis was good, we knew the road ahead would not be easy. A few weeks later, she underwent a double mastectomy at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The surgery was a success, and today, my mom is healthy, strong, and cancer-free.
That routine mammogram saved her life; she describes it as "the biggest blessing", without it, the cancer could have spread and the situation become much worse. The emotional rollercoaster my family experienced during that time is something I will never forget. The ups and downs were extreme, reminding us of the fragility of life and the strength required to face something as unforgiving as cancer.
This October I will step into the ring to fight not only for my mom, but for the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. All the proceeds I raise from this boxing event will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Association. Your generous donation will provide women with crucial education about their breast health, free resources and screenings, and invaluable support as they navigate life with cancer. The training camp ahead will be challenging, but it pales in comparison to the obstacles my mother, and so many women face through their breast cancer journey.
My goal is to raise $10,000 before fight night, any contribution you can make to support my fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated.
With your help we can KO cancer! I hope to see you all on fight night!
