Goal

At the age of seven years old, I lost my grandmother to colon cancer. I understood the sadness of losing someone who made me feel loved, laugh often, and brought so much light into my life as well as my family’s. At my current age, I’ve come to appreciate the profound impact her loss had on the people closest to her and how cancer leaves a lasting mark on entire families, not just those diagnosed.
This journey is personal for another reason as well. I have faced my own struggles with mental health and have learned firsthand the importance of resilience, support, and finding healthy ways to navigate life’s challenges. Exercise became much more than a fitness goal. It became a source of strength, confidence, and healing. Through determination, consistency, and the support of those around me, I have made changes to my health that I never thought I would or could. More importantly, I learned that growth happens when you keep moving forward, even when the path feels difficult.
That lesson is one of the reasons Haymakers for Hope resonates so deeply with me. While my challenges are different from those faced by cancer patients and their families, I understand the power of perseverance, community, and hope. I’ve seen how much strength it takes to keep fighting when life becomes uncertain, and I want to honor those who face that reality every day.
By stepping into the ring, I’m pushing myself beyond my comfort zone for a cause that means so much to me. Every training session, every fundraiser, and every round is dedicated to those who have battled cancer, those who are currently fighting, and the loved ones standing beside them.
I’m fighting in memory of my grandmother and in support of every person whose life has been touched by this disease. Thank you for helping me turn this challenge into something meaningful and for supporting the fight against cancer. Together, we’re proving that hope is always worth fighting for.
