Over the past seven years, I lost both my grandmother, Marian, and my grandfather, Harold, to cancer. I also watched my grandmother, Gladys, courageously battle and overcome the disease. Through these experiences, I witnessed both the devastating toll cancer can take and the hope that advances in treatment can provide. I watched my grandparents endure surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments with incredible strength and courage. Like so many families, I experienced the heartbreak of wanting desperately to help the people I loved while feeling completely powerless to change what they were facing. Their battles not only inspired me to pursue a career as a physician, but also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the importance of cancer research, compassionate care, and hope.
That is why I am stepping into the ring for Haymakers for Hope.
Cancer has touched nearly all of us in some way. We all know someone, whether it is a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor, who has faced this disease. Through Haymakers for Hope, we have the opportunity to turn that shared experience into action by supporting the organizations working tirelessly to improve outcomes for those fighting cancer. Every dollar raised helps provide hope for patients and families facing this disease. Thank you for joining me in the fight to knock out cancer.
