Why I box

There’s nothing that would make me feel more honored than meeting my fundraising goal and stepping into the ring October 9th in honor of my mom and grandma.

My mother is my greatest motivation for being part of Haymakers for Hope. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was eight. I remember her losing her hair and being too sick to get out of bed for holidays. I remember her finding the strength to take my sister and me to Disney World in the middle of it all, just to show us she was okay. She recovered, but in 2015, a few months before I graduated high school, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Since then, she’s continued treatment while doing everything she can to live life as fully and normally as possible. I’m proud of her every single day for being the incredible mom and person she is while fighting this disease.

Her mom, my grandmother, died from breast cancer at the age of 55. There’s nothing that would make me feel more honored than meeting my fundraising goal and stepping into the ring October 9th in honor of my mom and grandma. Thank you for taking the time to learn my story and donate.

I’m excited to say I’ve chosen The Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program as the beneficiary of my fundraising efforts for Haymakers for Hope. Even more meaningful, every dollar I raise will be matched. This program was founded 20 years ago in honor of my Grandma Lin and my Great Aunt Melinda, who both passed from breast cancer in their 50s.

The Notkin Program is designed to equip patients and their families with the knowledge and skills to handle many aspects of their breast cancer experience by providing personalized services including nurse navigation, psychosocial support, financial counseling and survivorship plans.
