Goal
In April of this year, my older brother Matt was diagnosed with Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE), a rare sarcoma of the liver. Matt, who has always lived with incredible awareness and care for his own health, has since had to take medical leave from his profession as a firefighter at just the age of 38 and make his fight against cancer a priority. Although overwhelming and difficult to know exactly how to support a loved one navigating a diagnosis as devastating as Matt’s, advocating for my brother, while also investing further in a sport I have come to love, is an opportunity I cannot refuse. Throughout this process, all contributions I raise will be directly donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston, specifically the department addressing EHE, where Matt is receiving his treatment.
Beyond challenging myself physically and mentally, beyond fundraising for cancer research, awareness and survivorship, the principal purpose of this endeavor is to show Matt the vastness of the community of support accessible to him if and whenever he needs it, through and ultimately beyond this diagnosis. With love always, Matty!
