I have yet to meet someone who hasn't been affected by this disease in one way or another. This fight for me is bigger than the win, more than the training and far greater than the excitement. The mental struggle and physical pain I will endure through this process cannot match what the individuals who are committed to fighting and curing this disease go through each day. I am fighting for it all, but especially for my Papa. The kindest man I have known with the deepest sense of integrity, lost his battle to cancer 3 years ago. His strength and dignity was honored each day by his family, friends but most importantly the medical team that cared for him throughout his struggle. My family is forever grateful for what they did for my Papa.
