Boxing saved my life.
On October 7, 2013, I was attacked during a robbery while walking into my home. As horrible as that was, it wound up being the best thing that ever happened to me. Shortly after the attack I began taking boxing classes at Peter Welch's Gym. It helped me deal with PTSD, anxiety; and gave me a sense of confidence that I never had in myself prior to being attacked. My favorite part about discovering the sport of boxing has been the community that has come with it. I have found the members of the fight community to be dedicated to supporting others to help them live the lives they want and find confidence in that. I know this because I watch hundreds of members over at PWG believe in themselves every time I step through the door and nothing makes me happier.
In honor of my mother, a 10+ year breast cancer survivor, and countless other women I know, I am, now, proud to be a member of another fight community, the Haymakers, and use the sport that saved my life to save other lives as they face fights bigger than I can ever imagine.
Thank you for joining me to knock-out cancer!
