Goal
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
I will be fighting in Belle of the Brawl IX to help KO cancer so that no one has to live without a loved one. Cancer is a tremendous battle where people fight for their life to survive and they don't get a choice. I have witnessed this fight first hand and my mission is to raise money so that no one has to go through what my dad went through.
10 years ago, my dad lost his battle with Stomach Cancer and was taken from me at 17 years old. He was diagnosed when I was younger and his battle really started ramping up in 2009 when I began high school. Your life changes when you hear the word cancer and everyone starts to treat you differently, but my dad stayed as resilient as ever. My dad is the strongest guy I know because throughout the struggles during his treatment he just kept moving forward. He always remained positive, cracked jokes, continued to ski and most importantly fought like a lion.
Losing a parent to cancer is something I don't wish on anyone, but it is an experience that has shaped me as a person. I grew up playing sports with my dad and brother so after college I was looking for my next outlet and boxing just seemed like the right fit. It's a sport that has helped me channel my grief into something positive and now with Haymakers for Hope, I can combine my love of boxing with raising awareness for cancer.
Cancer has made me work hard for what I want in life and from watching my dad’s determination to fight this disease, I try to live my life to the fullest every day. His determination has rubbed off on me and now nothing will stop me from accomplishing my goals.
My goal is to win this fight in honor of him because he wasn't able to win his fight. I have chosen to donate this money to Dana Farber who took the time to take care of my dad while he was sick. I appreciate any donations in support of my fight. Thank you for taking the time to read my fight card and please help me KO cancer!
