Hi! My name is Katie….I live in Boston, born and raised! I first found out about Haymakers when one of my co-workers was a fighter a few years back. I followed her journey and have followed Haymakers ever since! I feel like it’s a pretty simple thought; if me getting absolutely bundled in a ring for 4 months helps the real rockstars fight their fight, win their fight or helps determine why someone lost their fight….. then that’s a YES all day for me. 

 

Cancer has affected me in one way or another in life throughout the years. I have had multiple family/friends in my life who were affected by this TERRIBLE disease, including my Nana, who was my soulmate. When it hits close to home you can’t help being angry. Then you get an email from Haymakers and before you know it your filling out the application! I am so beyond grateful for the opportunity Haymakers has given me and even more excited and humbled to stand beside all of these women willing to do the same! I’m fighting for the rockstars that are still fighting, for the rockstars that won their fight and for the angels that lost theirs. Though I’m told it will be a grueling but amazing 4 months, I can’t think of a better reason to get punched in the face! Thank you to everyone who decides to donate, to everyone who comes to the event , and for everyone’s support, help, and laughs along the way! 

 

HAYMACKERS: We give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
