Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
WHY I FIGHT:
For those that fought and won... TRACY... you are a warrior nothing can stop you
For those that fought but lost... my sweet JASON... this world is darker without your light
For those that didn’t get an opportunity to fight... MOM... Life took you away from us too young...You will always be our unsung hero
I fight for all of you!
I started boxing earlier this year with NO intention of ever getting in the ring to fight. I was going through a tough time personally and was looking for something to physically and mentally challenge me. I fell in love with boxing within 5 minutes of my first session. I regret I didn’t find it sooner but am beyond thankful I found it now. Every session has lit a fire under me. When my coach convinced me to apply to Haymakers I laughed and said “sure coach I’ll do it but I’ll never get in”. Weeks later I got the email. As did 4 others at my gym. I was shocked ... i felt like I didn’t deserve to be a part of something so insanely awesome.
But Jess (the best coach ever) made me feel like I deserved it. Made me feel proud I got in and made me want it. I can’t thank her enough for getting me out of a difficult period in my life and getting me into the ring.
and so with this opportunity .... I’ll fight for those I mentioned, those that are currently fighting and those that are yet to fight. Cancer doesn’t discriminate... Nor do I
WHAT IS HAYMAKERS FOR HOPE:
Haymakers give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against cancer by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.

Jen I am so impressed that you are participating in this fundraiser! I lost a very good friend to NSCLC in January of this year. She was a scientist, a great friend, mother, wife, sister and a daughter. I think of her almost every day and wish that I could still talk with her.
