Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
“Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run it is easier. We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Thanks for checking out my fighter page!
My name is Brittany Wilton. I grew up in Garden City, NY and went to Boston College where I was a Captain on the Women's Lacrosse team. I've lived in Boston ever since graduating and now work as a trainer at Barrys Bootcamp and an Instructor at Flywheel sports. I was introduced to Haymakers by a friend from BC who is a Haymakers Alum, Chris Venti. When I heard what Haymakers was all about I was blown away by the mission and all they've accomplished. I am so excited and humbled to be a part of it this year!
For those of you who don't know what Haymakers is all about, Haymakers , "... gives everyday men and women the chance to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness." In 8 years they have raised over $8,868,617.
My goal is to do everything I can to help fight this disease through fundraising and spreading awareness. Seeing what this disease can do and doing what I can to help find a cure is why I am doing this.
In my own family both my Dad and my Cousin Danielle are cancer survivors, my Uncle Roy and Aunt Phillis lost their lives to this disease. Seeing what they went through and what their immediate families went through is what is driving me. Knowing that outside my own small circle this disease affects the lives of so many will drive me everyday.
During my time at BC I met two people that changed my life. Judith and Larry Theriault, twins born with Pediatric brain Tumors. They were paired with sports teams at Boston College through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Judith is in remission and was part of our team (BC women lacrosse) and is now a teacher. Larry was part of the Baseball team and has become a close friend. Larry is battling a tumor and working with Dana Farber to get on the newest trial available to fight this. Anyone who has the pleasure of meeting Larry knows his smile and fighting spirit. Ill be thinking about him daily.
Help me spread the word and donate what you can! I hope to see you on October 10th at fight night! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
LETS KNOCK OUT CANCER!
