Why I Run
Cancer, unfortunately, impacts everyone. In 2007, my dad was diagnosed with CLL (Leukemia). Manageable, but still cancer. Ten years later, on Dec. 1, 2017, my dad died from cancer.
Since then, I have been more attuned to the devastating effects of cancer. Impacts it’s had on me and the impact I see it has on others. Through it all- everyone impacted doesn’t run from it. They face it head on. I’m facing it head on by raising money for cancer research and running a marathon to ensure we find a cure because losing a parent is hard-but we are fortunate to be able to know that love. Losing a parent or loved one to cancer is even harder because time (yours and theirs) feels cut short.
I’m running to try to ensure my friends, my family, and everyone else that may be impacted can have a chance to not have their time cut short.
I’m running to try and help find a cure for this terrible disease.
I’m running for those that aren’t able to run because of what this disease may be doing to them.
I’m running for friends that have, or had, cancer.
I’m running for friends that have have a loved one that has cancer or has lost a loved one to cancer.
I’m running for my dad.
