"It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great.” - A League of Their Own
Did I ever plan on running the Boston Marathon? HELL NO.
It wasn’t until the most motherly figure I’ve ever known, Rana Mogannam, found out she had breast cancer. So, I took it as a sign when Haymakers had 1 spot remaining on their inaugural Boston Marathon Team and that final bib was offered to me.
If Rana (and everyone else we know and love) can power through months of chemo, I can power through 26.2 miles. ❤
Yes, I know… watching/tracking someone in a marathon is not nearly as exciting as a boxing match (more Forrest Gump, less shots to the face), but my endgame remains the same: raise as much money as possible for cancer research, care, awareness and survivorship. And with the Boston Marathon endgame in mind (and quickly approaching), I’ve pledged to raise at least $10,000, all of which will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
