Throughout my upbringing, my parents always emphasized the importance of giving back to our community. I also greatly believe in constantly physically and mentally challenging myself in a variety of ways. So when the opportunity presented itself to combine a personal challenge, which benefits a cause I believe in, I jumped at the chance to sign up for this event.

Admittedly, the thought of losing a boxing match in front of family and friends provides me a bit of apprehension and fear. I then, however, think about the countless people who are in for a real fight – a true life and death battle against cancer. When I think about these real fighters, I realize how trivial my “fear” is considering what people battling this disease go through on a daily basis. And if the people fighting cancer can continue their fight with strength and resolve I cannot truly comprehend, then I can do my part to contribute.  

It is an unfortunate reality that all of us, in one way or another, are personally impacted by cancer. And while progress on finding a cure to this disease is happening, we are not there yet. We will, however, find a cure. But this must be a team effort, with each of us contributing in our own way.   

With all that said, I’m asking for your support to raise money for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Soliciting contributions is not something I take lightly nor have ever done. It’s often said — and it sounds trite — but no amount is too small. Please consider making a contribution to my fight here, and know that 100% of every donation will go directly to the Foundation.
