Goal
"The ones that love us, never really leave us. You can always find them...in here."
I was fortunate enough to have known both of my grandfathers, Witold Stachura & Charles Batka. My time with them was cut too short by their lost battles to cancer. However, the life lessons they left behind helped shape me to be the person I am today and will be messages playing over and over in my head throughout this incredible experience.
Grandpa (Witold) taught me that I could do anything I put my mind to as long as I put my heart and soul into it. This definitely applies throughout my decades-long sports commitments, but more importantly, is essential when standing up for something I believe in- no matter how trivial or extraordinary it may be.
Poppy (Charles) instilled the importance of treasuring time and enjoying life. He prioritized time with his family and friends- even if he had work deadlines or other ‘adult responsibilities.’ I wholeheartedly believe that although brain cancer took him from us at the way too young age of 61, he passed away with no regrets.
So, why am I fighting? I’m fighting for my grandfathers and for other friends and family who have lost loved ones to cancer.
Thank you for considering donating towards this amazing cause and joining me in the fight to #KOCancer!
