Goal
We give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
I appreciate this opportunity provided to me by Haymakers for Hope. I first heard of this charitable event during my Sloan graduate MBA studies and felt a need to participate. I work as a Critical Care Cardiologist in the Intensive Care Unit of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center (CC). The NIH CC is a place of hope for patients, including many cancer patients. I have cared for many critically ill pediatric and adult patients with various malignancies undergoing advance research protocols with the hope that the treatment will be the next major breakthrough. I admire these patients and their families for their dedication and courage. Even if they cannot be cured they want to contribute to the science that will eventually provide relief to those who come after them. I fight for them and those that will come after them.
