I’m participating in this event to make a meaningful difference. Over the next four months, I’ll be training intensely with the goal of stepping into the ring on May 8th, 2025, in Boston, MA, at the MGM. This journey will undoubtedly present its challenges, but I’m ready to face each one with determination and purpose. I’m honored to represent Haverhill Downtown Boxing, its dedicated coaches, and the fellow fighters who train alongside me.

Every day, families around the world are affected by cancer, enduring far greater struggles than we can imagine. In 2022, cancer took the life of Donna Gomez, the mother of my best friend, Mike. Her battle with lung and bone cancer was brief but filled with courage and strength. Donna was the type of person who always put others first — offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply a welcoming smile to anyone in need. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her memory continues to inspire all who knew her.

Witnessing the pain cancer has caused Mike and his family has deeply impacted me. Mike and I have been best friends since 1993. Growing up, we shared a passion for wrestling — a dream of one day walking down the ring to the roar of a crowd, imagining ourselves alongside legends like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, and The Rock. We’d even create our own storylines and act out matches for fun.

While Haymakers for Hope isn’t professional wrestling, there’s still a ring, a crowd, and most importantly, a cause — one that raises funds for cancer research, care, awareness, and survivorship. This fight is dedicated to Mike and his family, and I know Donna would be proud of this moment. At 38 years old, I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to live out this dream. But now, not only am I doing it for myself, but for Mike, too. I hope this experience motivates others to chase their dreams, no matter their age or circumstances.

As Donna always said, “Life is a journey, enjoy it.” This fight is a testament to that belief.
