Goal
We live in a world that moves fast—our schedules packed with work demands, family obligations, and the never-ending to-do lists that make up daily life. There’s always a reason to put off that phone call to a loved one, to delay that beer with an old friend, or to assume that tomorrow will bring another chance to show up for the people who matter most to us. But as I’ve grown older, I continue to learn the hard truth: tomorrow is never promised.
Nothing makes that reality clearer than hearing the words, “They (or I) have cancer.” Suddenly, the excuses fall away. The meetings can wait. The calendar clears. The fear of loss has a way of cutting through the noise, forcing us to focus on what truly matters—family, friends, community, and the time we have together. That realization is why I’m stepping into the ring.
There’s a sign in my childhood home that lists the meanings of my family’s names. Under my name, Alexander, it reads: “Protector and Defender of Mankind.” I’ve taken that meaning to heart. Professionally, I’ve spent years raising capital for real estate investments, but now, I want to use that skillset for something greater. This fight isn’t just about me—it’s about giving back to the very community that has showed up for my own family many times.
Cancer has touched the lives of so many, and my family is no exception. We have been the beneficiaries of groundbreaking research, and the tireless dedication and generosity of the caregivers who fight for Cancer patients every day. Because of the advancements in cancer treatments, my loved ones—Selma Moffie, Linda Calzarette, Celia Moffie, Cathy DeMio, Nathan Moffie, Al Calzarette, Scott Cowper, Sheila Driscoll, and Lisa Silvester—are still here today. They are making memories, watching their children and grandchildren grow, and continuing to impact their communities.
To those who gave their time, resources, and energy to my family, I say: thank you. But sometimes, gratitude isn’t enough. Sometimes, you have to take action. So I’m fighting—not just in the ring, but in the larger fight against cancer. My goal is to raise $50,000 for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in the hope that one day, the dollars I raise will help save someone else’s loved one.
This is bigger than boxing. This is about fighting for those who can’t. This is about protecting the people that need help today and defending those who will need help tomorrow. Too often, it is pain that brings us closer together. Let the night of May 8th,2025 be about Hope, Love, and the dedication to a better community tomorrow.
This is why I fight.
