At 10 years old I watched my grandfather lose his battle to cancer. At that time he was someone who was larger than life to me. Years later my 5 year old cousin lost his life to the disease. An energetic fun loving little boy. Both of these events had a profound impact on my life in many ways at a young age. They were stark reminders that cancer is something that will touch all of us in some way throughout our lives. Fast forward to now and cancer continues to affect my family's life. We've had Aunts fight it, my Dad, and one of our best friends go through a bout with cancer just recently. My wife has lost a few very close friends to the disease in the last 5 years alone. It was time for me to step up and literally Fight back! Haymakers for hope is providing me an outlet to do my part in helping to raise funds to battle a disease that has affected all of us. I pledge to honor all of my family and friends who have lost their lives to cancer and the ones who have so bravely fought the disease and won! Every mile I run and every punch I throw will be fueled by the inspiration they have all given to me! LFG!
