Cancer has affected all of us in some way or form. Whether we have lost a loved one to it, endured the struggle ourselves, or have seen someone beat it, we know how tough of a battle it is. My first experience was losing my grandmother Gloria to lung cancer when I was 14 years old. Fast forward 5 years later, I suffered the biggest loss in my life, which was losing my brother Bobby to throat cancer. Even though some have not been so lucky, I have witnessed some of the closest people in my life beat cancer and continue to win the fight against it, such as my best friend Jarrod and his mother Karen. They are able to win this battle through the strides that cancer research makes every day. That research requires funding and that is what Haymaker For Hope is all about.
