If you’re on this page, I imagine you know who I am. But for those who don't my name is Ryan Polun and I'm a Potomac (MD) native, and current resident of Downtown Manhattan. As a long-time, passionate fan of the sport of boxing and a fervent supporter of the eradication of cancer, I’m humbled to have the opportunity to participate in Haymakers for Hope (in NY) this November.
I’ve come to know Andrew and the Haymakers for Hope team on the heels of my brother-in-law Eric’s participation in the event in 2015. At that time, Eric was fighting in honor of his (now late) father Mitchell who had been diagnosed with throat and mouth cancer. It gives me a great sense of pride knowing that I’ll be able to carry the torch in honor of my wife’s father, and on behalf of their entire family via this event.
And while I’ll be fighting on behalf of my wife’s family, the beneficiaries of my fundraising efforts will be the GameChanger Charity. A fantastic organization – led by the wonderful Jim Carol – whose mission is to raise awareness for hospitalized children and their families. Take it from me… the GameChanger story is one to follow, and I look forward to putting the full weight of my network in support of their efforts.
The next few months will no-doubt be strenuous. A 32-year old in relatively poor shape with weak knees and flat feet. The time commitment needed to be fight ready will be tremendous, in my case. Don’t hesitate to check-in with me personally, or via my Instagram in the coming weeks/months as I look to shed some light on the status of my training… all in the interest of raising awareness of an amazing cause.
Now, go donate. Buy some tickets… and I’ll see everyone on November 18th at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
With Love,
RP
