Why I box

Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.

Why I Fight

Cancer has affected us all.  I have had so many loved ones impacted by this scourge that I needed to take action- an action with some sacrifice and effort.

So I Fight

I Fight to honor my mother and my wife Tara and her sister Cristina who are all breast cancer survivors.

I Fight for my wife’s sister Ginger who bravely, stoically and successfully battles cancer at this very moment

I Fight for all the men and women who are breast cancer survivors

I Fight for Kenny Clam who beat cancer and now walks miles a day listening to the soundtrack of life

I Fight to honor all those I loved and lost to this disease:

I Fight to honor my mother-in-law, Ginger Wolf, who was a force of nature in her energy, personality, sense of humor and kindness. There will be no other like her. She is missed dearly

I Fight to honor Tara’s uncle Ron. A beautiful family man who passed way too young and who’s family thrives by living his values

I Flight to honor Ethan D who in his 19 years taught me how to replace fear with faith in a way I could not have learned in a lifetime.

I Fight to honor two great brothers from the neighborhood Brian and Danny M who we lost way too young to this horrible disease

I Fight to honor Linda who was kind, warm and always with a smile to light up Lee Ave

I Fight to honor Lisa who’s upbeat personality was contagious

I Fight to honor Mike T who was a devoted young father to two sets of twins. A great man with a great family

I Fight to honor my two close friends who I loved and lost to cancer this year: David L and Rob H. These two men grew up with different backgrounds yet their similarities are striking! Both men were fiercely loyal to friends. They were committed to family above all else. Both men were amazing fathers who loved and protected their girls.  David and Rob had the fight of a warrior and the heart of a lion. It is a privilege to train and to fight to honor these two men.

We have all been affected by cancer

I Fight for all of us.
