Goal
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
There is not a single person on earth that has not felt the devastating effects of cancer. Cancer does not discriminate, it leaves wreckage in its wake without regard for gender, age, or race. While the level to which we have all experienced this disease varies, I think we are all in agreement that CANCER SUCKS. My brother, Blaise, fought a battle with Leukemia when he was just 14 years old. It was a long and rocky road, but he has now been in remission for over 15 years, no doubt in part to some of the more recent breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment. It is because of organizations like Haymakers that miraculous recoveries are possible.
Blaise and I are both fighting November 18th in Haymakers for Hope IX NYC. The training is going to be brutal no doubt, but I know no amount of pain, soreness, or sleep deprivation will ever hold a candle to what he, and others, felt when battling this disease. That is why I'm fighting- because I can. Millions of people afflicted by cancer wake up every day fighting, not knowing when, how, or if it will end. If getting punched in the face a few (hundred) times means we can move the dial, even in the slightest, and help this cause, then its a no brainer. Everyone has a responsibility to do their part to raise awareness around cancer research and treatment.
As I prepare for November 18th, side by side with my brother, for what will be one of the most rewarding, and taxing, experiences of my life- I ask you this. What are you doing to be part of the solution?
