".....the fighter still remains"
The Boxer - Simon & Garfunkel
When you realize years of therapy have been successful in helping judge your past. Yet not successful at making you feel stronger, tougher, ready to take on life with a completely new view of yourself and what you are capable of doing; you turn to boxing.
I have always been a fighter in some sense of the word.
I was brought up in Ecuador, where machismo is king and girls have to become "señoritas".
I never did, so I fought.
I fought to be heard. I fought to be taken seriously. I fought to become someone different than what was expected of me. I fought to share a new vision of a world I thought was important.
Through out my life I have faced many challenges. I suffered from eating disorders and depression; struggled with self confidence and weak sense of self. I fought and still fight to move past that.
I became a mother 4 years ago- to a little girl- and I swore I WILL model to her everything a woman can be. I want to show her that there is nothing anyone can't do. If you work hard and put your mind to something, you can achieve your wildest dreams. You can change your life around, you can choose your own course of action and you can make it. If you fight, you can do anything.
And to all fighters, keep fighting you are not alone.
