"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Then, like a rat, they stop in fear and freeze." It's true. Mike Tyson's quote goes far beyond boxing. It applies to really anything in life. At the end of the day, its one's reaction to such adversity that ultimately defines such person. It's also an innate quality, something that cannot be taught.
I have witnessed many friends and family members enter the ring the fight the battle with cancer. Some have won, and others have lost. While cancer has been a high-profile affliction for a while, cancer doesn't truly hurt you until it affects you or someone you know.
Training for a boxing match is one of the toughest things I have ever done physically and mentally. In boxing, that one single second of lost focus can lead to devastating results. That being said, I am the fortunate one to have a fight that ends in only three rounds. The people who I am fighting for have a fight that lasts much longer. I have committed all donations and ticket proceeds towards The Valerie Fund, a non-profit with the mission of supporting the holistic care and treatment of children suffering from cancer and blood disorders.
Thank you very much for your support. Big shout out to my friends, family members, and colleagues at Sentinel Capital Partners for supporting me on this journey. When asked about his quote, Mike Tyson laughed.
"How much can you endure, buddy?" "Most talkers, they can't handle it."
