Four years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. When the oncologist advised him to stop working out.. my Dad replied with, "Go $#@* yourself." Classic. In fact, we ran the Central Park loop together one week later. That was the only time I've ever (correction: his words, "will ever") outpace my Dad.
If my Dad could run (jog) the Central Park loop with stage 3 cancer, I'll do whatever it takes to win the fight on November 18th. (Which also happens to be my 31st birthday, no pressure)
My Dad is now cancer-free and I will fight to keep him healthy.
More importantly: I'm fighting for friends and family who were not as lucky.
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure. We give everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, we combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
