Goal
Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way we know how, by literally fighting for a cure.
When I was 5 years of age, my father John was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His struggle, the fight to knock-out cancer, and its impact on families, has always stuck with me. I remember when he passed away when I was 11, after five years of keeping up the fight, I committed to one day doing something to make sure no one has to deal with cancer like that again.
Now over 20 years later, I have this opportunity I have joined Haymakers for Hope to Raise Money to Help families and individuals kick cancer to the rear. I am excited because, through this opportunity I will be able to help give everyday men and women the chance to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. To prepare for each event, Haymakers for Hope combines the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We hope to help give life saving researchers the resources needed to fully focus their efforts on finding a cure.
Why Me? Why Now?
I am a Wife, mother of 2 and advocate. I want to find ways to make an impact by raising money to address an illness that drastically impacts people's lives. Secondly, I want ot show my children that you can set goals, work hard, and can do anything. Boxing and learning the sport have been a lifesaver for me throughout these last three years.
I look forward to boxing in the name of Father, John Kennedy to achieve a goal of raising as much money to help lessen the burden of the cost of care and survival for other families as well.
